(space is limited to 12 people)
Brief Therapy was created in reaction to the seemingly endless psychoanalysis and insight oriented therapies. There is nothing brief about treating trauma or in general about connecting with and healing the unconscious, yet there are ways to intervene briefly and have immediate results.
In this whole day (9am – 5:30pm) workshop I will share with you some of these tools and techniques that I regularly use. The overall contexts are trauma, and Ericksonian therapy. These overall frameworks remind us that regardless of technique, we are trying to connect to the unconscious parts. From the trauma perspective, we are trying to integrate broken pieces and abandoned parts into a more complex whole. Integrated complexity implies resilience and health. Ericksonian context also suggests recreating therapy for each client and for every situation, choosing the right tool for the right moment.
We’ll explore Focusing, EFT (tapping) and Family Constellation and depending on time, touch on some other related tools. In all these, the primary emphasis is on the experience and the experiential learning.
By the end of the day you will be able to use these tools right away in your own work, according to the specific needs of each client. Regardless of your favorite modality or way of working, you will be able to integrate what we’ll learn. Of course any of these can be studied and practiced further and deeper.
I will need demonstration subjects for each of the major sections. Please let me know in advance if you would like to volunteer for a demo. In each section you will also practice with the other workshop participants.
